The Interactive Cognition Lab is an interdisciplinary lab housed in the Cognitive and Information Sciences Program, University of California, Merced.

What we do

We study everyday communication using a variety of approaches and methods. We are interested in metaphor, and how it influences reasoning about issues such as climate change, immigration, cancer, and election outcomes. We are interested in descriptions of abstract information, for instance, about risky outcomes, uncertain quantities, and complex spatial configurations. And we are interested in the dynamics of gesture and its role in communication.
